Résumé

This chapter discusses the ways in which contemplative practices such as interconnection visualizations and movement practices are sustaining and vital for radical resistance in academic settings. Anchored in the subjectivity of the author’s particular standpoint, these practices are discussed in relation to developing praxis that is the embodiment and the active engagement of theories and ideas. By foregrounding movement in social work practice and pedagogy, the essay discusses the ways that space is taken up, invented, and opened. Social workers are always constructing their practice in a situated way, in interaction with their given environment. The chapter ends with an adaptable contemplative movement practice that serves to increase awareness of one’s body in interaction with others.
